About Uptime Mfg LLC

Our founder, Andrew Vargason is a lifelong BMX enthusiast, family-man, and seasoned Mechanical Engineer. With 18 years of industry experience in manufacturing engineering, design engineering, mechanical actuation systems, valves, quality assurance, operations, and sales, he has serviced the industrial market, upstream oil and gas, petro-chemical, power generation, nuclear, marine, aerospace, agriculture, defense, and action sports industries. Andrew has held many titles and job functions, often simultaneously, including: Director of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Senior Design Engineer, Quality Assurance Manager, Operations Manager, and Sales Manager.

In 2013, while recovering from surgery after a broken ankle, GrindWorks was started as a hobby project supporting the BMX industry with simple design assistance and our own product offering. GrindWorks grew in many directions to include organizing events, operating a private skatepark, maintaining a strong social media presence, and acting as a content creator in both the streaming and podcast platforms. The growth of GrindWorks and expansion of capabilities mixed with a passion for design and manufacturing have culminated in the launch of Uptime Mfg LLC.

Founded in 2024, Uptime Mfg LLC is the focused integration of everything we have accomplished with the a re-imagining of how we can use engineering to offer manufacturing and industrial plant solutions around the world. All too often, “engineering” and “engineer” are dirty words among workers and to some degree it’s rightfully so! Afterall, just because it can be drawn in CAD doesn’t mean it can be made in the real world, inspected with conventional measurement tools, or maintained to the +/-.0001″ tolerance that was applied to a hole location. It doesn’t have to be that way!

Uptime Mfg LLC offers a focused approach to design for manufacturability, assembly, and maintenance and wants to minimize hardship and maximize efficiency through your organization. Understanding tooling and equipment availability and capabilities, tolerance stack-up, design intent, inspection methods, and all the nuances of running your operation is paramount to providing solutions that you, your employees, and your customer, are satisfied with.
